By using backi.app you accept these terms. They are short on purpose: please read them before you start.
What the service is
backi.app is a web app from an independent project. It takes the ZIP of an exported WhatsApp chat, sorts its files into folders in your browser and lets you save them to your Drive or download them as a ZIP. The preview of how your folders will look is free; saving the result requires a license (see "Price, payments and licenses"). More details in the Privacy Policy.
Price, payments and licenses
Each conversion costs USD 5. There is also a pack of 3 conversions for USD 12 and a pack of 5 conversions for USD 18. A conversion is one chat ZIP processed and saved to a destination (your Google Drive or an organized ZIP download). Viewing the preview does not use up conversions.
Payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record: Lemon Squeezy charges you, handles the applicable taxes and issues the invoice to you as the buyer. backi.app does not receive or store your payment details.
When you pay you receive a license key, shown on screen and sent to you by email. It is either single-use (1 conversion) or a pack (3 or 5 conversions), it is personal and cannot be transferred or resold. Each time you save a chat, one conversion is used from the key.
Refund policy
If a conversion does not manage to save any file (for example, the upload or download fails, or you cancel it before anything is saved), the conversion is automatically returned to your key and is not deducted.
If you paid and the conversion could not be completed because of a failure of the service, you can request a refund within 14 days of purchase by writing to info@backi.app. Please include the purchase email and what happened.
Conversions that were already completed, that is, once the files were saved to your destination, are not refundable.
No warranties
The service is offered "as is", without warranties of any kind: we do not promise that it will work without errors, that it will always be available or that the sorting will be perfect. This is without prejudice to the refund policy.
Your content and your backups
You are responsible for having the right to use the content you process with the app and for keeping your own backups.
Before deleting files or chats in WhatsApp, check that everything was saved correctly to the destination you chose. We are not responsible for data loss.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service for anything illegal or to process content you have no right to use.
Changes to the service
We may modify, suspend or discontinue the service, or part of it, at any time.
Trademarks and non-affiliation
backi.app is not affiliated with WhatsApp, Meta, Google, Microsoft or Dropbox. Their names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, backi.app is not liable for direct or indirect damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service, including data loss.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic. Any dispute is submitted to the competent courts of the Argentine Republic.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will publish the new version on this page with a new date; if you keep using the service, you accept the changes.
